This is a really bad thing that does (unfortunately) happen on sites - especially free ones (or apps). They think it's a great way to gain votes, facebook likes - whatever the goal is.
You should NEVER do it - why - because at the end of the day it could get your data or be a scam. You have to look after yourself in cyberspace!
